Snow Day 2014

Wow---what a crazy two days we've had here in Atlanta!  Lily and I took a little nap Tuesday mid-morning (because this 9 month pregnant mama needs a nap every now and then!) and woke up to snow falling and it continued falling all.day.long :)

Winter wonderland!

We had a day or two of random flurries last year, but this was the first real snowfall for Lily to experience and man was it fun!  She loved it!

While I was happy Lily and I were safe at home, the snow storm turned the roadways into mass chaos.  It took Slade 4.5 hours to go 8 miles from work to home...I was a stress ball the whole time and felt so helpless.  We thought the 4.5 hours was ridiculous, but as the night wore on, we were so thankful he was not stuck on the roads like so many others.  I'm sure you all know, but people were stranded, abandoning cars, walking miles, stuck on the interstate for over 24 hours...insane stuff!

We were so happy when Dada pulled in the drive!  It also meant we got to play in the snow a little more, which made this snowbunny and snowpup really happy :)

She was not happy that Dada put her down...she is a daddy's girl!

Our family of three ventured back out in the ice and snow Tuesday night to rescue Nene and Bryant from school, since Josh was stuck in Augusta.  I couldn't stand the thought of sending Slade by himself or of Neeley trying to drive the terrible roads.  Luckily, we didn't have too much trouble getting to the school and back....I've lost count of how many times I've been thankful Slade talked me into purchasing a truck several years ago!

We had so much fun having a big slumber party and playing in the snow!  We baked, cooked, played, napped...love having days with no agenda.

My sweet family!  Officially 37 weeks pregnant with Stone

B and our neighbor became quick friends

And Tyde enjoyed running free

Slade retrieved our sled (which we normally use for Christmas decor) and it was a hit!  The kiddos and adults alike had so much fun riding down the hill in front of our house.

9 months pregnant sledding...pretty sure my doctor wouldn't approve, but boy did we have fun!

As you can see, we all had a blast!

Snowmageddon 2014 was one for the books!  Totally crippled the city, but definitely brought out the best in all of us.  It is refreshing to see people come together to help one another in times of need.

We are blessed that our family (immediate and extended) was safe, warm and able to enjoy these couple of snow days!  And also thankful Stone decided to stay put through it all ;)

Surprise!!! Times Two :)

Over the weekend, I was surprised with not one, but two celebrations for our sweet little man--- Stone! :)

To begin, my sister was sneaky, sneaky and planned a "Sprinkle" for Stone with some of my family and close friends here in Atlanta.

Can you tell I was shocked?!?!!?

Neeley knows me all too well---we had a wonderful Mexican lunch, filled with many laughs, delish sprinkle cupcakes and some fun presents for our newest addition.  It was such a special time to spend with some lovely ladies whom I love so so much!

We were gifted with some fun new boy toys, cute outfits, diapers, wipes, bath products and more :)

As if that wasn't surprise enough, our small group surprised me with another shower on Sunday night.  It was a dual shower for Stone and baby boy Burkholder due in April.  We ate dinner, crafted for the boys and received a ton of diapers!  So blessed to have been a part of this group for the last two years :)

We are three weeks away from Stone's expected due date and SO excited to meet our sweet boy!  We are so blessed to have so many people who already love him so much.  Thank you all for making me and especially him feel so special with these sweet, surprise celebrations!

Christmas Recap 2013

Christmas seemed to never end this year and it was wonderful (and tiring)!

Slade, Lily & I celebrated our favorite holiday for five days straight...a total of six Christmas gatherings.  We enjoyed some great family time, a little rest and lots of food :)

Christmas Eve started off with a visit to the Jackson's for their annual drop in party.  We enjoyed some time with extended family, yummy food and got to spend some time with Mema.

We headed to the Lichter's for dinner.  Sugar, Boss and Cody joined us.  It was great to have some "calm before the storm" and enjoy a low key evening.  We made cookies for Santa too :)

In their Christmas Jammies :)

We headed home with cookies in hand and got ready for Santa to visit!
Lily is our sleepy head...she makes sure she gets at least 12 hours of sleep...so we had to wake her up around 8:30 to get the day started...good thing Santa didn't disappoint :)

We didn't put up a tree this year, with our house in mid-renovation, but the morning was still magical!  Lily loved all her new toys!  It was so fun to sit and watch her experience the morning.  Spending time with my two loves while celebrating the birth of Jesus, playing with new toys and opening some gifts is hard to beat.

The rest of Christmas day was spent at the Lichter's with Sugar, Boss, Cody and Bebe.  Papa Rick also came over to visit with the kids for a bit too.  Several Christmas movies were watched and the day was pretty restful...just the way I like it :)

The next four days were spent celebrating with Lily's other grandparents, aunts and uncles.

 Bebe
Mema joined us too :)

As you can see, our Christmas week was busy but so.much.fun!  We are indeed blessed to celebrate the birth of our Savior with the ones we love the most.  Nothing is more important to us than our family...we are grateful to be able to spend time with them during such a special season.

I hope you had a Christmas filled with joy and love too!  Merry Christmas!
