Wow---what a crazy two days we've had here in Atlanta! Lily and I took a little nap Tuesday mid-morning (because this 9 month pregnant mama needs a nap every now and then!) and woke up to snow falling and it continued falling all.day.long :)
Winter wonderland!
We had a day or two of random flurries last year, but this was the first real snowfall for Lily to experience and man was it fun! She loved it!
While I was happy Lily and I were safe at home, the snow storm turned the roadways into mass chaos. It took Slade 4.5 hours to go 8 miles from work to home...I was a stress ball the whole time and felt so helpless. We thought the 4.5 hours was ridiculous, but as the night wore on, we were so thankful he was not stuck on the roads like so many others. I'm sure you all know, but people were stranded, abandoning cars, walking miles, stuck on the interstate for over 24 hours...insane stuff!
We were so happy when Dada pulled in the drive! It also meant we got to play in the snow a little more, which made this snowbunny and snowpup really happy :)
She was not happy that Dada put her down...she is a daddy's girl!
Our family of three ventured back out in the ice and snow Tuesday night to rescue Nene and Bryant from school, since Josh was stuck in Augusta. I couldn't stand the thought of sending Slade by himself or of Neeley trying to drive the terrible roads. Luckily, we didn't have too much trouble getting to the school and back....I've lost count of how many times I've been thankful Slade talked me into purchasing a truck several years ago!
We had so much fun having a big slumber party and playing in the snow! We baked, cooked, played, napped...love having days with no agenda.
My sweet family! Officially 37 weeks pregnant with Stone
B and our neighbor became quick friends
And Tyde enjoyed running free
Slade retrieved our sled (which we normally use for Christmas decor) and it was a hit! The kiddos and adults alike had so much fun riding down the hill in front of our house.
9 months pregnant sledding...pretty sure my doctor wouldn't approve, but boy did we have fun!
As you can see, we all had a blast!
Snowmageddon 2014 was one for the books! Totally crippled the city, but definitely brought out the best in all of us. It is refreshing to see people come together to help one another in times of need.
We are blessed that our family (immediate and extended) was safe, warm and able to enjoy these couple of snow days! And also thankful Stone decided to stay put through it all ;)
