Lillian Pace- 3 Months

This was written on Saturday...just a couple days late in posting :)

My sweet Lily P,
You are 3 months old today...such a big girl!  I almost can't believe that I have a 3 month old baby.  It seems like yesterday we were in the hospital anticipating your arrival.  How quickly life flies by.  This past month has been full of changes & growth for you my Priss Pot :)  You have turned from a tiny baby into a little human overnight!  The developmental changes have far surpassed your growth this month, but don't worry, you are still our chunky monkey!

A BIG change that happened this month was switching your milk intake to only formula.  This was a hard decision for mommy, but it was necessary.  The transition wasn't easy.  You've been gassy since you were born, but this change caused you to be fussy & uncomfortable all day & night.  It hurt our hearts to see you so sad & in pain.  You went from sleeping all night to waking every hour screaming...not fun for any of us :(  After 4 days on Similac Sensitive, we made the jump to Gerber Gentle.  While this helped with your bowel movements & gas, it didn't help with your fussiness.  After several more days of frustration, I consulted with the pediatrician who recommended Similac Alimentum...while it smells terrible & costs a small fortune, it has been a life saver!  You are now minimally gassy & rarely fussy :)  Happy, happy, happy!

Your "Miss Piggy" status hasn't changed- you're eating around 26 ounces of milk a day & 2 1/2 tablespoons of cereal at night.  You clasping your hands together & resting them on your chest is my favorite thing you do while you eat :)

We went to the doctor last week & you weighed 11 lbs. 10 oz.  You're still wearing a size 1 diaper, 3 month PJ's & mostly 3 month clothing.

You're sleeping pretty well.  Your naps are predictable & range between 1 to 2 hours, depending on the time of day.  We are still using a Sleepsak for all sleep, but plan to transition out of it next month.  The bedtime routine hasn't changed at all...don't need to fix something that isn't broke! :)
Nighttime sleep is hit or miss.  Some nights you sleep from 8:30pm to 7:30am.  Other nights you'll wake around 4am for your paci...I know we should probably let you self sooth at this point, but to be honest, I can't sleep when you're crying, so it is much easier just to go in & give you your paci.  More sleep for all of us :)

You are SO active sweet girl! You started playing with your toys this month, instead of just starring at them :)  You love to look at the colors, feel the different textures & put all of them in your mouth!  That's right...everything ends up in your mouth...toys, your fingers, your shirt collars, blankets...everything!  It's pretty darn cute :)  Another favorite is laying on your changing table...you wiggle & talk to us while we change you & you kick!   The mirror is also a favorite pastime.  The squeals and smiles that you make when we talk in the mirror are the best.  You've also started blowing bubbles & sucking your thumb this month too.  So many fun changes :)

Another fun moment was putting you in your Bumbo for the 1st time!  We put you in it the day before you turned 3 months.  You've been a strong girl since the day you were born, so it was no surprise that you did great :)  You never once bobbled or slouched...you sat up in it for almost 5 minutes before getting tired- our BIG girl :)

Because we all survived the first 3 months of your little life, we celebrated with early St. Patrick's Day festivities!  We went over to the Lichter's for a little BBQ, basketball watching, playground playing fun! :)  Such a blessing to have family so close to us.  It is going to be so fun to watch you & Bryant grow up together!

Lily, I know I say this all the time, but you are the biggest blessing!  You're our strong, smart, funny, pretty girl :)  I'm so thankful God made me your mom.  I can't wait to see what this next month brings...I love you my sweet Lily P! :)
